Use of Tobacco Products and How They Affect the Human Body

Tobacco products have been widely cultivated and utilized from as early as the mid sixteenth-century. Native Americans believed the plant to be an effective form of medicine. Many people adopted this belief, and there was thought to be very little to no harmful effects from the tobacco products.Throughout the years, modern medicine, science, and technology have been used to study the tobacco plant and more importantly, the deadly chemical nicotine which is used in almost every tobacco product that is distributed. It has been deduced that tobacco products are not an effective form of medicine, and are rather one of the largest preventable causes of death known to mankind. Tobacco products have been proven time and time again to cause devastating health effects, and even loss of the individual’s life, yet people still continue to purchase and use tobacco products. Proper warnings are posted with the Surgeon General’s approval on every tobacco product package that is marketed to the public. Tobacco products are one of the most addictive substances in the world, which is why people may disregard health warnings, and choose to continue to use tobacco products against the Surgeon General’s warning. The chemical nicotine in tobacco products is the primary cause of the strong addiction to the products. Smoking cigarettes are the most common way people use tobacco products, which make up the majority of the tobacco industry. â€Å"Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body. Smoking causes many diseases and reduces the health of smokers in general.
